Transitioning from hourly to 15-minute settlement in the Nordic energy market

When your electricity usage measurements moved to 15-minute intervals, it began being measured in 96 daily time slots instead of 24. This gives a more detailed and accurate picture of how and when your business consumes energy. With the prices now also following the same 15-minute intervals the transition to a 15-minute electricity market is now complete.
The new settlement setup is an EU requirement. By shifting from hourly to 15-minute intervals, it becomes easier to match electricity production with consumption. As renewable energy like wind and solar brings more variation, shorter intervals make balancing supply and demand more efficient and reliable.
It depends on your contract. If you have a fixed-price contract, you won’t be directly affected. If you have a spot contract, your price will follow consumption measured in 15-minute intervals instead of hourly, giving a more accurate link between usage and price.
Most modern meters already support 15-minute settlement. In some cases, older meters may need to be updated or replaced. You will be informed if any changes are necessary for your business.
